From the front of the Bob Slay, we observe some of its key features. The lower partition has a cut out for two 5.25" devices. The upper partition has a plate for mounting the motherboard transversely. A cut out for a single 120mm fan sits between a pair of momentary switches and a pair of blue LED’s. We also get a glimpse of the stainless steel carry handle at the top of the case.

Looking from the right of the case, we clearly see the Bob Slay’s transverse mounting scheme for the motherboard. This unique feature allows the traditional rear facing IO panel to be brought closer to the user. Making hookup of all the necessary LAN party components (Monitor, KB, Mouse, Headphones, etc) quick and easy.

The LED/Switches that stereo the front fan are unlabeled. Preference is used to decide what LED and Switch is responsible for what function. The high intensity blue LEDs come installed in an attractive chrome bezel. The nickel plated anti-vandal switches feel good to the touch and add to the attractiveness of the case. The key to the Bob Slay’s construction lies in the 20+ acrylic blocks used to hold everything together. Each block has three inserts designed to accept a long 3mm screw. The case feels extremely strong and rigid, no doubt an attribute of the acrylic block design.

Gaining entry to the Bob Slay can be achieved by removing the top plate, the left side plate, or both. Taking away both plates involved the removal of 15 screws. Before venturing inside the case, we observe the rear 120mm exhaust fan, as well as a cut out for a full size ATX power supply. Also note 10 motherboard standoffs are already installed on the motherboard tray. PC cards are secured to the case with a single piece of acrylic. Removal of one of the screws allows the acrylic piece to swing open, or you can remove the piece all together. This method does a good job of securing installed video cards and such, but does a poor job of holding the slot fillers securely. Clip style slot fillers would be a preferred alternative.
