MODTHEBOX would like to thank Vivien from Corsair
for sending the Corsair TwinX2048-4000PT PC4000 DDR500 Memory Kit for review.
Introduction:
Gaming applications continue to play an important role in the development of high-end computer system requirements.
Each and every year consumers wait for the latest software titles to be released and plan their system upgrades
accordingly. To compliment new software releases many manufacturers often introduce new product revisions which are
targeted directly at the gaming community. Last year Corsair introduced its popular Pro Series TwinX Kit which combined
its low latency memory modules with 18 activity LEDs and a programmable LED display. The company has recently taken the
next logical step in appealing to hardcore gaming enthusiasts with the release of the XMS TwinX Platinum Series. Today
in the MTB Labs, we will be evaluating the new Corsair TwinX2048-4000PT PC4000 DDR500 Memory Kit designed for dual
channel DDR supporting motherboards
Specifications:
The Corsair Xpert TWINXP2048-4000PT DDR Memory Kit is one of several different memory modules packages available on
the Corsair website. This kit is a matched pair of memory modules and has been designed to specifically work for
motherboards using chipsets with dual memory channels. Here are some specifications taken directly from the Corsair
website:

Out of the packaging, my first impressions of the Corsair TwinX2048-4000PT PC4000 DDR500 Memory Kit were positive. The modules take
on a different approach from XMS Pro Series where Corsair concentrated on the XMS aluminum heatsinks and integration of activity LED's.
The package consists of two 1024MB memory modules which have been implemented using 64M x 8 DDR SDRAM chips. The TwinX2048-4000PT
designation of this particular package is suited to run on dual channel supported motherboards at DDR500 with a latency setting of
3-4-4-8 and voltage rating of 2.75V. The low latency setting refers to the CAS latency setting in your motherboard's BIOS. CAS stands
for "Column Address Strobe" and is essentially a ratio generated between column access time and the clock cycle time of 3 cycles.
