MODTHEBOX would like to thank Antec for sending the P180 Advanced Super Mid-Tower for review.

Antec

Introduction:

One of the biggest problems associated with most standard mid-tower cases is the lack of expansion room available when it is time for a complete system upgrade. There are plenty of factors involved in the selection process and quite often users will settle on a smaller case based on convenience and price. The key element for building that dream machine is to research and plan whether or not an investment will meet your system needs and requirements for the future. Antec has developed a significant reputation as one of the pioneers in the computer case market. A few years ago the company's main focus was manufacturing cooling products and power supplies. The explosive growth and demand for new consumer cases has led the company to develop a new series of cases dubbed the Performance One Series. Today in the MTB Labs, we’ll be looking at one of the latest offerings from Antec, with the introduction of the new P180 Advanced Super Mid-Tower.

The Antec P180 Advanced Super Mid-Tower ships in a colourful double-walled corrugated cardboard box. The full-length panel displays a front product shot, while the side panels provide information on key shipping information for the unit such as net weight, model and other pertinent details. Thankfully, the unit arrived with no obvious signs of shipping damage. The case is packed into the box in a protective plastic sheet and is buffered from the box by polystyrene on the left and right hand sides.

Out of the box, my first impressions of the Antec P180 Advanced Super Mid-Tower were extremely positive. After owning and modding a few Antec cases in my time, I was expecting another re-hashed mid-tower case with little done in terms of chassis design. It was refreshing to see Antec move towards a more modern stylized case, which offers a sleek look suitable for home or an office environment. The P180 measures approximately 200mm (W) x 493mm (D) x 440mm (H), and is very heavy for a mid-tower coming in at 36 lbs. By default the case supports all forms of standard ATX motherboards with a maximum size of 12" (W) x 9.6" (L). Composition of the P180 consists of 0.8mm cold rolled steel combined with plastic and aluminum. The entire exterior sports a jet black theme with silver aluminum highlights on the side panels and front door. The front of the case has a great futuristic type look that is replicated from the top portion of the bezel to the bottom. One distinctive change regarding the front door is that it exists as a solid piece rather than split into a top and bottom portion as seen on older Antec mid-tower case designs. At the top right of the front door exists the Antec logo that has been embossed into the aluminum panel.
