Sunbeam Tech

Introduction:

Sunbeam Technology has been a long time manufacturer of PC modding accessories and computer peripherals. With humble beginnings as a CCFL producer, they have expanded to include power supplies, fan controllers and temperature monitors to name a few. Continuing on the success of the Trio case released in 2005, the company has recently released its first case chassis designed for silent computing environments. Today in the MTB Labs, we will be evaluating the new Silent Storm Mid-Tower Case, a pre-modified chassis that contains silent cooling properties and unique features all in one package.

Specifications:

The Silent Storm is a mid sized ATX case. Standard features include tool-less entry, tool-less 5.25" drive bays and 3.5" drive bays, tool-less PCI card holders and front mounted USB/Audio jacks. Optional features are a molded acrylic side window, and power supply. What makes the Silent Storm unique is an innovative new cooling design, named the "Core-Fan". With this feature, you can place up to two 120mm fans inline with key motherboards components. This gives users superior circulation within your case, eliminating hot zones and assisting with the intake of fresh air into your high powered PC. Here are some specifications taken directly from the Sunbem Technology website:

The Silent Storm Mid-Tower Case comes in a black corrugated box, with product illustrations and features on the front and back. There is a plastic handle on the top for carrying which is always a nice feature.

The packaging inside the box was excellent with the case sealed in protected plastic with two pieces of polystyrene located on the top and bottom of the package.

The Silent Storm takes on an attractive look, the clean straight edges communicate that this is a no-nonsense chassis. The unit under observation here at MTB features the optional acrylic window with 120mm side firing intake. The front door covers the face of the case from top to bottom, with plenty of perforations. The door is hinged at three locations made of plastic which is standard. Power/reset buttons as well as the power/HDD LED’s are mounted on the door’s exterior. Three magnets are stealthed to the front bezel which secures the door in the closed position.
