The included installation manual is practically useless, it does not provide information on how to convert the cooler from and Intel setup to AMD, and will require a little mechanical aptitude from the user. Installing the AMD hardware was simple enough but did require a Phillips screwdriver with a skinny shaft, as the mounting screw that secures the AMD plate to the cooler base is directly behind the motherboard hold down screw. Also the fan needed to be removed as it blocks the motherboard hold screws from being tightened.

The Spire SPB601B3 VertiCool II has a protective film over the base of the cooler that must be removed prior to installation. The base has a fairly smooth and polished finish, but it did contain a couple of scrapes and gouges with no visible damage to the protective film, indicating the damage occurred at the factory. If the user desires, the VertiCool II can be used with any standard 80mm fan.

The installation of the Spire VertiCool II requires the original LTOES bracket be removed and replaced with the supplied steel bracket. The bracket comes equipped with a self adhesive side to aid in the installation process, although I found it was not required and did no peel off the protect film to expose the adhesive.
