Towards the right hand side of the Samsung SPP-2050 Digital Photo Printer is anoter quick release plastic panel that
shields the location for the ribbon cartridge installation. Inserting the cartridge is a foolproof process since the
orientation allows it to be only installed one way. A small clicking noise is can be heard once the cartridge has been
properly installed.

The rear portion of the SPP-2040 has a series of ventilation slots for air circulation and cooling as well as a
entry slot which is used for the 4-step dye-sub printing process. Dye-Sub printing has been around for years
and is a very inexpensive method for producing high quality photos. The "dye" in the name comes from the fact that
the process uses solid dyes instead of inks or toner. "Sub" or "Sublimation" is the scientific term for a process
where solids (in this case dyes) dyes are converted into a gas without going through an intervening liquid phase.
In the case of the SPP-2040, four stages are used where the photo paper momentarily pushed out the rear of the
printer in preparation for the next colour film process.
On the left hand side of the SPP-2040 is the location for a DC Power Jack which works with provided power adapter,
USB 2.0 port and a legacy USB 1.1 port. The USB 1.1 port provides backwards compatibility with older systems as well
as support for the optional SPP-00BA Bluetooth adapter and PictBridge enabled digital cameras.

Attaching the photo paper tray is very easy since the unit snaps into place on the front of the SPP-2040. Once the
paper tray has been attached all that is required is to lift the plastic lid and insert the IPP-4640G photo paper
pack. By default consumers can only insert a maximum of 20 sheets of photo paper in the paper tray at any given time.
