Cooler Master

Introduction:

Choosing a personal computer case is a very difficult process and is often dictated by a budget. The smaller your budget the more limited you are on the amount of choices available. Recently, there has been a surge of economical cases which have hit the market and have been gaining steadily in popularity. Economical cases offer a slight advantage over the more expensive aluminum cases by the simple fact that some of the newer releases combine aesthetic pleasing design and functionality without killing the pocket book. In the past few years Cooler Master has developed a significant reputation in the consumer market by providing a wide selection of cases that cover desktop and full tower case requirements. The company has recently expanded its popular Centurion product line with the introduction of the new RC-534. Today in the MTB Labs, we will be evaluating the Centurion 534; an aluminum and steel based chassis designed for mATX and ATX formats.

The Cooler Master Centurion 534 Case was shipped in a standard double-walled corrugated box with the case manufacturer's logos and images printed on all sides. The packaging inside the box was good with the case sealed in protected plastic with two pieces of polystyrene located on the left and right sides of the package.

The Centurion 534 was bundled with an assortment of accessories which include drive mounting brackets, mounting screws, motherboard stand-offs and zip ties. The documentation included in the package is well written and includes a series of reference diagrams that aid in component installation whether you are an experienced or novice user.

My first impressions of the Cooler Master Centurion 534 Case after removing the packaging were positive. The Centurion 534 features a simplistic design incorporating a majority of the features found in all mid-tower versions of the Centurion product line. Out of the box, there are no surprises since the Centurion 534 features Cooler Master's trademarked craftsmanship and attention to detail. The Cooler Master Centurion 534 measures approximately 480mm (L) x 202mm (W) x 435mm (H) and weighs 9.7kg. The case does not ship with a PSU which is a bit of a disappointment, but Cooler Master does include revisions which ship with a standard 400w model. The eye candy for this particular model is the brushed aluminum front bezel and emphasis on good air flow. The Centurion 534 includes a special mesh design that is located on the left and right hand sides of the front bezel which assist with cooling performance.
