MODTHEBOX would like to thank Nick from Crazy PC
for sending the Logisys Meteor Light Kit for review.
Introduction:
PC: (Personal Computer) Wikipedia: "A personal computer is usually a microcomputer whose price, size, and capabilities
make it suitable for personal usage." While this definition of a PC is accurate, we users know a PC is much more than
that. Those of us, who use PC’s for work and play, look upon our rig with much more enthusiasm and emotion. Looks become
a big factor, not just the look of your own computer, but of computers you look to purchase. Even Dell’s, HP’s and the
like have all taken a page from the design book and incorporated good looks into their off the shelf PC’s. To fire some
emotion into the look and present ability of your computer, case lighting is a very good choice. Logisys offers one such
product among many; the Meteor Light. Today MTB will analyze the Meteor Light to see if it offers the look you are after
for your favorite PC.
Specifications:
The Meteor Light is an LED light system encased in a CCFL style form factor. An 11.8 inch acrylic tube holds 12 bright
LED’s. A PCI slot bracket supplies an on/off switch, and a toggle button to cycle through 8 different preset lighting
patterns. Here is a list of specifications taken from Logisys and Crazy PC website:

The Logisys Meteor Light Kit comes in standard folded plastic packaging that you would expect when purchasing a CCFL

The light kit can be purchased in an assortment of colours. We see that Blue, Red, Green and UV are other product choices.
Our sample uses the red LED’s and kit can also be had with a single Meteor Light rod or two Meteor Light rods.

While the inverter looks exactly the same as an inverter for a CCFL, be warned that you don’t want to confuse the two
if you run both in your computer case. Logisys warns of this on the packaging and personally I would label the box
appropriately or even suggest that Logisys use a different color plastic for this kit all together. Note that the wires
are wrapped in clear plastic which is a nice touch. A closer look at the Meteor Light rods shows how the LED’s are mounted.
A thin circuit board stretches inside the tube from end to end and 12 evenly spaced LED’s are soldered directly to the
board.
