MODTHEBOX would like to thank Jack from NMediaPC for sending the NMediaPC HTPC 180BA Case for review.

NMedia Systems Inc

The popularity of multimedia applications has created a brand new viable market for computer component manufacturers. In the past where a standard PC was used to perform a few simple tasks, today's high performance systems are now considered multi-purpose tools. A perfect example is the concept of the HTPC or Home Theater PC. Today's HTPC based systems have opened new opportunities for consumers to finally migrate a system into the family living room as an all-in-one entertainment solution. NMedia System Inc based out of Castro Valley, California is a new company that was formed in 2004. The company's vision is to create future home entertainment PC systems that are optimal for today's consumer electronic gear such as Plasma TV's, LCD's, HDTV and Home Theatre projectors. Today in the MTB Labs, we will be evaluating NMediaPC HTPC 180BA, a brand new HTPC style enclosure developed by NMedia System Inc.

The NMediaPC HTPC 180BA is one of two different units available on the NMedia System Inc website. The NMediaPC HTPC 180BA comes pre-assembled and only supports the mATX motherboard format. Here are some specifications taken directly from the NMedia System Inc website:

The front portion of the package includes several images of the HTPC 180BA while the back portion includes product specifications. The packaging inside the box was good with the case sealed in protected plastic with several pieces of polystyrene located on the top, bottom, left and right hand sides.

Out of the box, my first impressions of the NMediaPC HTPC 180BA Case were positive. NMediaPC has taken the basic design fundamentals introduced into the HTPC 100B model and expanded its product line with the 180BA. The first and most striking feature of this unit is the combination of brushed aluminum balanced with steel chassis design. Home Theater purists will love the aesthetic appearance of the HTPC 180BA since the unit resembles traditional stereo audio components found in the living room. The NMediaPC HTPC 180BA Case uses a very small footprint and measures approximately 15.5"(W) x 5.4"(H) x 15"(D). Towards the top left of the unit is the location for oversized Power button that resembles a stereo receiver knob and integrated IR receiver ports for an optional MCE IR unit.
