Introduction:
The advent of portable media players has gained in popularity thanks in part to easy manageable
music formats and the increased range of consumer products currently in the market. For music enthusiasts, solid
state flash drives have been a optimal solution for creating portable play lists of favourite music that can be heard
anywhere in the world. Headquartered in San Jose, California, Super Talent designs and manufactures DDR and DDR2
memory modules and Flash based storage devices for computers and consumer electronics. The company has recently expanded
into the media player market with the release of their first generation music player marketed under the MEGA series.
Today in the MTB Labs, we will be evaluating the Super Talent 2GB MEGA Screen MP3/FM/Recorder Player; a small form
factor portable media device designed around flash media technology.
Specifications:
The Super Talent 2GB MEGA Screen MP3/FM/Recorder Player has a capacity of 2GB of internal flash memory designed for the
storage and playback of MP3, WMA, and image files. The Super Talent 2GB MEGA Screen is the latest in digital audio

The Super Talent 2GB MEGA Screen MP3/FM/Recorder Player ships in a two piece boxed retail package with an image of the
product displayed on the front and capacity information listed on the top and bottom. The front of the packaging flips
upwards to reveal the Super Talent 2GB MEGA Screen unit itself showcased in the center. The unit is protected in a
plastic bag while the accessories are bundled inside.

The Super Talent 2GB MEGA Screen MP3/FM/Recorder Player comes complete with an installation CD, user manual, earphones,
USB cable and audio line cable. All the included items provide a trouble free install and ensure the Super Talent 2GB MEGA Screen
is ready to use right out of the package. During an inventory of the contents, I was surprised that unit does not include any
sort of belt clip, neck strap or carrying case to simplify the process of transporting the Super Talent 2GB MEGA Screen
from one location to another.

Once removed from the retail packaging, my first impressions of the Super Talent 2GB MEGA Screen MP3/FM/Recorder Player
were very positive. The unit shares a striking similarity to Apple's popular IPOD and Nano units but has some small
distinctive changes. The Super Talent 2GB MEGA Screen measures approximately 87mm (H) x 42mm (W) x 9mm (D) and is very
light weight at 36g. The exterior of the unit consists of a white plastic and aluminum design with a reflective front
portion. The MEGA Screen has a capacity of 2GB of internal flash memory and has limited player capabilities supporting
MP3, WMA and various picture formats. Additional features include a built-in FM Tuner, microphone for recording voice
directly to the internal flash memory, music lyric support and 8 hours of playback time on a single rechargeable Lithium
Polymer battery.
The Super Talent 2GB MEGA Screen MP3/FM/Recorder Player includes a built-in 1.5" MEGA Screen (262K Colour OLED, 128x128
Pixels) and several navigational buttons that control all the functions for Play/Pause, Stop, Record, Lock and Volume Control.
By selecting any of the player functions illuminates the OLED colour screen and allows consumers to toggle many of the built-in
menu modes.
