Before diving into the case, I’ll pause to look at the front bezel. When the steel handle (seen in the above picture) is pulled the front aluminum plate falls off. The mechanics of removing/installing the front place are well designed. Unfortunately the cables make this operation a bit of a pain. If you keep your cables all bundled up and zip-tied so there is very little slack, you will have issues when removing the front plate to install a CD-ROM drive.

A view into the case interior reveals that the drive cage stretches from top to bottom. Also made of aluminum, they have horizontal fins to aid in the heat transfer of your hard drives. The cages (notably the hard drive cage) are not designed to be user removable. Due to this configuration, hard drive installation or removal will be difficult for users with multiple PCI/PCI-E expansion cards. The rear of the case looks very familiar for users of mid sized ATX towers.

Here is a close up of the internal drive cage. Note that there is nothing to restrict the air flow from the front 120mm intake fan and the hard drives. Heavy foam rubber strips line the inside of each and every drive bay. I assume these are designed to help dampen the vibration coming from your hard drives, in turn lowering the noise coming from a highly active drive cage. In practice this will probably have no positive effect, as the rubber is actually stiff enough to be a conductor of sound/HDD-vibrations, plus the screws used to mount the hard drives will also act as a conduit for sound. NZXT appears to have their own branded 120mm fans on the Adamas case. Little is known about these units, aside from what is printed on the label. It’s a sleeve bearing design to minimize noise, with a specification of 100mA and 1.2 Watts.
