The retention base that is included with the CoolJag 565C is designed to replace the stock heatsink retention base that is found on most Pentium 4 based motherboards. This new system offers more stability, better cooling of the backside of the motherboard and easier installation of the heatsink. Unfortunately, the CoolJag website does not offer too much information about the design of this mounting clip.

The 70mm fan included in the package is manufactured by Bi-Sonic Technologies and is capable of pushing an impressive 54 CFM's across the heatsink. The noise level of the 70mm fan is 47.5 DBa, which makes this one of the loudest fans I have ever heard. The fan uses approximately 6.6 watts of power, so it might be a good idea to plug it directly into a 3 to 4 pin adaptor and power it from the power supply instead of using your regular 3-pin header on your motherboard.

JAC565C smooth copper base

The heatsink base is cut from a solid piece of copper. For this particular heatsink, the copper base was not as smooth as I would have expected. It does feature some minor swirling but I am under the assumption that this was the direct result of the machining process. The base maybe able to benefit from some very minor lapping to improve the finish, or the use of some quality thermal compound to compensate for overclocking performance.
